Safety glass is a specially designed type of glass made to reduce the risk of injury and increase durability compared to standard glass. It is engineered so that, if broken, it either shatters into small, less harmful pieces or remains held together to prevent dangerous shards.
There are two main types of safety glass:
Toughened (Tempered) Glass: Heat-treated for strength and breaks into small, blunt fragments
Laminated Glass: Made from layers of glass with an interlayer that holds the panel together when broken
Safety glass is commonly used in areas where protection is important, such as doors, windows, shower screens, and public spaces, and is often required to meet building safety regulations.
